About DavidLeeGG.com
I worked in the retail jewellery business for a little over 33 years, with the last 27 of those being a Graduate Gemologist. It was interesting, a lot of fun and I met a lot of cool people.
As with any business, I decided that it was time to move on to something different, so that I could keep challenging myself.
I had to agree with a lot of my friends, though, when they reminded me that the amount of knowledge I had on the jewellery business and "practical gemology" could be a great resource for people who were thinking of buying a diamond or other piece from their local jeweller.
One way to reach a lot of people at the same time obviously, was to produce a site like this, with information that people could use.
..when they reminded me that the amount of knowledge I had on the jewellery business and "practical gemology" could be a great resource for people..
One thing that I discovered when I was studying at the Gemological Institute of America back in 1980, was that like many disciplines, a person could learn about many areas, or even specialize in one. My degree as a Graduate Gemologist came from learning about the general area of Gemology
We had one lecturer, for example, who specialized throughout her career on just pearls. A science unto itself, and she certainly made it interesting.
One skill that I've always had, is the ability to distil information into easily digestible "chunks" for people.
That's why I called this "Practical Gemological Advice". I intend to keep adding information over time, about as many areas in gemology as I can. You'll find that this site grows, and hopefully will contain information that you can use.
Your Input
If you have any suggestions about information that you would like to see on here, let me know and I'll try to put it up on the site.
Enjoy looking around, and I hope to see you again.
